The Red Book of Terrestrial Ecosystems of Venezuela warns of state of affairs in the conservation of the Amazon and of risks of forests extinction.

In a tributary of Orinoco River, in the Venezuelan portion of the Amazon, 10 thousand chelonians were released, as part of the Arrau Turtle Conservation Program.
According to a study, about 71% of the region is still intact thanks to the lands belonging to indigenous peoples and full protection. Most of its biodiversity remains unknown.
