By request of the Bloomberg Markets magazine, Chilean photographer Claudio Perez journeyed into the interior of the Brazilian states of Pará, Rondônia and Mato Grosso in 2009. His goal was to record the clearings made through forest fires and denounce the exploitation of the Amazon by mining companies, by the agribusiness and wood extraction, all of which are export products. He captured some impressive images depicting the transformations undergone by the largest tropical forest in the world in the present day and how this destruction has gradually occurred to this region that represents the planet’s greatest insurance against climate changes in the name of the interests of the few.
